Moon Faces: What are the symptoms of Moon facies it's causes and treatment

Moon face or Moon facies is medical sign which is developed due to gradually swollen into rounded shape.Usually this is not serious but it may feel you self-consicous. Face appears rounded due to deposits of fats on the sides.It iss often associated with cushing's syndrome or steriod treatment.
Symptoms and causes of Moon Faces:
Moon faces may cause swollen rounded face due to deposition of fats on the sides of face. The sides of patient's face may becomes rounded due to fat deposition that the ears can not be seen the front of patient's face. Fat deposition in skull sides make face look like rounded.
       A higher amount of release of hormones, especially cortisol hormones are the main cause of moon face. This condition is called hyperadrenocorticalism or hypercortisolism.
Conditions Related to Moon faces:
The most common conditions is hypercortisolism and symptom of moon faces includes:
1. Increased released of a hormone known as ACTH from pituitary gland as ACTH promotes adrenal gland to produce cortisol as a result cortisol hormone level also increases.
2. A Non-pituitary tumors such as tumors of the lungs, pancreas or may be thymus gland which may also causes a large amount of release of ACTH which leads to increase the level of cortisol.
3. Cancers or Tumors especially Benign tumor of the adrenal gland can leads to Moon faces.
4. Long term uses of steriod medication just like prednisone for conditions like rheumatioid arthritis or other conditions related to autoimmue conditions.

Moon faces and Cushing syndrome:
It can be difficult for a consultant to diagnose Cushing's syndrome because signs and symptoms such as facial swellin can be caused by other conditions too but it is more likely occurs in Cushing's Syndrome if moon faces get worse gradually along with other conditions and characteristic symptoms.
